LOOKING TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP JESUS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD. 18 No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].

Bema Seat

While I do not know much about this organization I do believe they give a fair and clear look at the Bema Seat Judgement as seen by those outside Dispensationalism. Please give this article a look and come back for comment.

I thought that was very well-written. At least easy enough for a non-seminary dummy like me to understand.
Thanks for sharing that, Mark.
I hope it generates discussion here, because I haven't given much thought to the Bema Seat and White Throne Judgment - and I'd like to learn more.

Incidentally, wikipedia had this:

"The Bema Seat, taken from the Greek word bema, describes the awarding of Christians for their deeds during their life, and is one of two judgments that is to occur during the Last Judgment in Christianity. This is different than the Great White Throne judgment, which is the judgment of the lost to eternal damnation."

I went to look it up because I thought it had Hebrew origins, since in the days I attended synagogue, the altar area was referred to as the "bema." I was surprised to see the word is of Greek origin.

Susan, the Wikipedia entry was written by a Dispensationalist. The idea that the Bema Seat Judgement and the Great White Throne Judgement are two different events is believed mostly by Dispy's. Grudem's take on these being one and the same judgement can be found on pages 1142-1145 of his systematic theology.

Mark,
Thank you!
I have Grudem's Systematic Theology, so I appreciate the reference.
I learn so much here from you!
Thank you!
And yet another reason given why I always caution folks when I refer them to Wikipedia - the encyclopedia that "anyone can edit."

Mark,
Is the amill in me that wants to believe all three judgments are the same event? What is your thoughts?

Wayne, The first time I ever encountered a non-dispensational view on the three judgements actually being one was when I read Grudem, and he is historic premill.

Gayla,

But for every subject you do not know I'll bet there are ten more that you do know, that are just as equally important! ;D

Gayla,

Not only that, but from what I've read at your blog, your experience and work are invaluable. You have a lot to teach and share just from what you do every day at a children's hospital.

Blessings to you.
