LOOKING TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP JESUS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD. 18 No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].

Reflections On John 17:3 - pt.3

"And this is eternal life, that they may Know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." John 17:3

It would appear that we are all in agreement from the last question that eternal life is also experienced in the here and now. Thanks for your participation!

One commentator defines eternal life this way:"life of the age to come", he goes on,
"This "eternal life" is in essence nothing less than participation in the eternal life of the Living Word, Jesus Christ. It is the life of God in every believer, yet not fully manifest until the resurrection."

Question one: Do you agree with this commentator"s definition?

Question two: Should the professing christian's life look different than the lives around him or her?

Mr. Bluecollar,
As to question 2... Should the professing christian's life look different than the lives around him or her?

A professing Christian's life may not look any different that the lives around them. However, a possessing Christian's life (one that has been regenerated by the Spirit) not only should, but it will look different than the lives around them. Regeneration comes with God's power and this will inevitably result in a 'new creation'. This life cannot help but look different from the lives around them.

1. Probably.

2. Definitely. Who would disagree with that?

In case somebody gives a Scriptural reason in the comments why that very good idea is in fact incorrect.

My father is a local politician, by the way.

God Bless

I've grown to hate politics! No man or woman in political office is true to their convictions. They will do or say anything to get into or to stay in office. I've grown very cynical.
