The truth about repentance
LOOKING TO PRAISE AND WORSHIP JESUS THE CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD. 18 No man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and He has made Him known].

For the eagle eyes among us, I noticed that it states in the video that faith in Jesus Christ is "proceeded" and followed by repentance. I suspect they meant "preceded" by.
I'm not quite sure myself exactly how repentance and faith meshes time-wise (preceding or at exact moment of regeneration) in the grand scheme of things.
I just know that I was repentant when I dropped to my knees for the first time as an adult and pleaded for God's mercy on my soul. And I have been repentant since.
So I can't testify as to the exact timing and scheme of repentance in the conversion of a sinner, but I know that it's there.

I'll be leaving for work soon. I'll be working till 11 PM and won't be able to see the comments this post generates until tomorrow... Right when I have to go to work again... Yep, doing a weekend work schedule. Ah, factory work schedules.

What a powerful speaker this man is. We need more men like him in the pulpit. When the Lord revealed my sinful nature to me, my first reaction was to ask Him to forgive me,to realize that He went to the cross for this disgusting sin in my life brought me to my knees and the sin in my life still brings me to my knees. Thank you for sharing this Susan.

Cristina,
My pastor's wife saw this on another blog and brought it to my attention. It was too good not to share. And I wholeheartedly agree, we absolutely need more of this preaching in the pulpit.
Mark,
Thanks for asking me to post it here. Sorry you have to work this weekend. My husband does as well. Ah, agricultural work schedules.

The bottom line is that if the sin that nailed Christ to the cross doesnt bother us then we are not saved.
I really liked the Kirk Cameron interview with Him. I dont know much about him and I dont like to get on bandwagons or lift men on a pedastal but he does speak the truth. I think in general America is deceived a great deal simply because they are not sensitive to sin or have any idea the great cost and suffering it put on our Lord enough to repent of it, so what ever order you try to make the cross must be central. The woman at the well and the adulteress going to be stoned were sort of caught in the act but the outcome was a turning away from sin. May we keep Christ central to our hopes and lift Him and His holiness up so that men will repent when they gaze upon the Saviour.

Bhedr,
I'd agree and go a step further. That sin that nailed Christ to the cross aren't just the biggies most people (in America anyway) associate with the "bad stuff" - adultery, murder, etc. - but the complacency and casual attitude toward Him. The "Oh, I accept Jesus and He's my Savior, but I'm not going to give my life to Him" thinking. That along with the greed, covetousness and idolatry that's not recognized as sin are all part of the same sinking ship. Oh, for another Great Awakening, Spirit-led Revival, and truthful preachers like this.

Susan,
Yes and also to keep walking this further step with you. It grieves me to see men like Kirk Cameron and Washer on TBN a network that makes great compromises with the Harlotry of the Roman Catholic Church. I dont understand the casual attitude toward this either. My heart sinks when I see this. Even though I thought the interview was good, all you have to do is wait for the next show and Father Manning will be in behind them with Paul Crouch talking about how he reconciles the sacrements of Rome with Faith alone as well as the Eucharist. By the end of the show the Crouches are giggling with Father manning and saying, "He sure knows how to give an answer" and praising the Lord together. Oh how it grieves me and then I sit back and wonder. "Does anybody have a problem with that?"
Gods wrath burns against this compromise and yet we are constantly making our rules up as we go along. I dont understand what is going on. We need to get on our knees about this matter and pray that men like Kirk and Paul will stop compromising.
May the Lord have mercy on us and may we praise Him for washing our sin away and may we repent and turn from this wickedness.

TBN is nothing less that a catylist for an ecumenical move that ultimately betrays the gospel. I agree with your assemnet, Brian...as much I love to hear Paul Washer and Kirk Cameron preach, they need to stop confusing the Body of Christ with appearances on TBN.
Susan,
Awesome video...Even Tozer said that the world had fully infilitrated the church in America...God help us!

I am greatly encouraged by your honesty Scribe. God bless you. Would that we would all get on our knees and weep and seek the Lord and turn from our sins. Incidentily I was thinking earlier of how balanced Tozer was and how he hit the nail on the head with just about everything that came out of his mouth. Of course I dont need to exalt a man but God truly anointed his lips.
October 13, 2007 10:23 PM
but I dont think Tozer would ever have been found on TBN.

True revival will only occur when once we repent and return to the firstfruits. We need to get back to ground zero. These are true trumpet blasters with no compromise in their hearts. Here, This is what we are talking about
Oh God wake us up and help us see clearly from where we have fallen and how we have hurt you. No more smokescreens. Lets repent!!! All of us.

Hallelujah! What soul cutting preaching!
Thanks.

Yes, repentance is wrought by the Holy Spirit in those that are regenerated. Therefore, if there is no repentance, then a person has not been regenerated and is still dead in sin.

>Therefore, if there is no repentance, then a person has not been regenerated and is still dead in sin.<
Amen. Always keep the door open properly in the invitation in the same way Spurgeon got saved by only looking after falling under conviction of his sin, but it is upon the hope of looking that we joyfully begin a lifelong process of turning from sin.
