Spurgeon: The Face Of Calvinism
Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ, if sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stop, and not madly to destroy themselves. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.

Dad just gave me a book last night by Mark Cahill called, "One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven" and it had that quote in there. Powerful quote.

Ah, Mark, that is why I love Spurgeon so! Oh that God would grant me both the passion and the words to plead and preach like that! Such preaching is so unfamiliar to the ears of our hearers these days that it sounds strange. It's not "seeker sensitive." Even good people wonder, "What's he going on about?"

Spurgeon was special. He stated things firmly and with conviction.

You said it, Wayne - "firmly and with conviction." Sadly, we don't see/hear preaching like that so much these days.
I'm so grateful to be in a church where the truth is preached unapologetically. It is good for the soul

Wonderful quotation. I think I'll use it for discipleship training.

Brian, David, Janice, Wayne, Gayla, Jonathan, JD, and Craver - Thanks for stopping by.
Please keep my unsaved dad in prayer. He is totally dependent on Karen and me. Every time we go over his house there is a big mess to clean up. We are only just now making head-way in paying off his bills, those he does not lose before we get there.
